One of the most common questions I get from readers is: “What addons do you use?” So I’ve put together this page to list the exact addons I run on my main characters. These addons help me play better, stay organized, and keep my screen clean — without turning my UI into a cluttered mess.

1. ElvUI (Main UI Layout)
I use ElvUI as the base for my entire interface. It replaces most of the game’s default UI with a cleaner, more customizable setup. I use it for:
- Action bars
- Unit frames
- Buffs and debuffs
- Chat box
- Bag layout
It takes a bit of time to set up, but once it’s configured, it saves screen space and keeps everything where I want it.
2. Details! Damage Meter
I use Details to track damage, healing, interrupts, and deaths. It’s easy to read, updates in real time, and helps me understand what went wrong (or right) during a fight.
I keep it docked to the bottom right of my screen during dungeons and raids.
3. BigWigs (Raid Boss Timers)
For raid encounters and Mythic+, I prefer BigWigs over Deadly Boss Mods. It’s lighter, more customizable, and gives clear alerts without overwhelming you. I pair it with LittleWigs for dungeon timers.
4. WeakAuras
This is my most important addon.
I use WeakAuras for tracking cooldowns, procs, debuffs, and raid mechanics. I don’t build every aura myself — I download them from wago.io and adjust them as needed. Some examples I use:
- Dot timers for Affliction Warlock
- Druid healing cooldown trackers
- Interrupt reminders in dungeons
- Visual cues for boss mechanics
If you’re serious about performance, you need WeakAuras — no question.
5. Plater Nameplates
Plater gives me more detailed and customizable nameplates. I can show debuffs, cast bars, threat indicators, and custom scripts for certain mobs. It’s especially helpful in Mythic+ when I need to react fast.
6. OmniCD
This addon shows party cooldowns (like interrupts, battle rezzes, and healing CDs). It’s extremely useful in Mythic+ and raids when timing matters. I keep it just above my party frames so I can glance at it quickly.
7. GTFO
This one’s simple: it makes a noise when I’m standing in bad stuff. That sound has saved my life more times than I can count — especially during hectic pulls.
8. Auctionator
For selling mats and scanning the Auction House, I use Auctionator. It’s lightweight, fast, and doesn’t require setting up complex groups like TSM. It’s perfect for casual gold-making and daily posting.
9. HandyNotes + Plugins
I use HandyNotes with plugins like:
- Dragon Glyphs
- Treasures and Rares
- Dungeon Entrances
These show icons on the map to mark useful spots. It’s a lifesaver when hunting for collectibles or trying to finish achievements.
10. TomTom
TomTom lets me add waypoints and get arrow directions on screen. I use it alongside HandyNotes or when someone links coordinates in chat. It’s especially helpful for secret quests and rare spawns.
Optional Addons I Swap In and Out
These are addons I sometimes use depending on the content:
- Raider.IO – I use it during Mythic+ seasons to check group experience quickly.
- SimulationCraft – For generating stat weights and testing builds in Raidbots.
- Leatrix Plus – Small quality-of-life changes like faster looting, auto-sell greys, and hiding zone text.
- Pawn – Helps me compare gear if I’m leveling or gearing an alt.
Final Thoughts
I try to keep my addon list efficient — not too heavy, but still helpful for high-level play. I test everything I recommend here in raids, Mythic+, and world content. If you’re new to addons, start with ElvUI, Details, and WeakAuras — those three will give you the biggest improvements.
