Hi there — I’m Gabriella Johnston, and if you’ve been reading guides or updates here on barbaracasasola.com, then you’ve already seen a bit of my work. I thought it was time to tell you more about who’s behind the posts, and why I built this site in the first place.
My WoW Story (So Far)
I started playing World of Warcraft in 2006 after hearing about it from a friend who wouldn’t stop talking about something called “Molten Core.” At the time, I had no idea what a raid was or what DPS meant. I rolled a Human Warlock, got completely lost in Duskwood, and spent hours figuring out what all the stats on my gear actually did.
But I was hooked.
Since then, I’ve played every expansion, joined all kinds of guilds, and learned the game the way most people do — by messing things up and trying again. I’ve been through late-night raids, failed pug runs, and those long farming sessions where you wonder if that rare mount even exists. Over time, I picked up a lot of knowledge — and eventually, I started writing it down.
Why I Built This Site
I created barbaracasasola.com to give players something that’s become rare: WoW content written by someone who still plays. Not a company. Not a farmed-out team. Just me.
Everything you see here is based on my own in-game testing and playtime. When a patch drops, I log in. When a dungeon changes, I run it. I don’t repost from other sites or chase trends. I write about what actually works, what feels good to play, and what’s worth your time.
I try to keep things simple — no overloaded posts, no vague advice, no filler. Just useful info for real players, whether you’re pushing Mythic+ or just trying to set up your UI the right way.
What I Play
I’ve played most classes, but I always come back to Warlock, Druid, or Priest. Lately, I’ve been raiding as a Resto Druid and running keys as Affliction. I also enjoy crafting, collecting transmogs, and doing old content for achievements (yes, I’m one of those players).
I raid twice a week with a mid-core guild on EU servers. We don’t chase world rankings, but we clear Heroic and dip into Mythic when the team’s in sync. I spend a lot of time in the Auction House too — flipping materials, stocking up before patches, and occasionally making gold by accident.
A Bit About Me
Outside of WoW, I live in Norwich, UK. It’s a small but peaceful city, and I enjoy the quiet pace of life here. I live in a terraced house with my two dogs, Jasper and Cookie. I work full-time on this site and do some freelance writing on the side.
When I’m not in-game or writing for the site, I like reading crime fiction, going on long walks with the dogs, and trying new recipes (with mixed results). I don’t stream, and I don’t use social media for this project — I prefer to focus on the writing and the game.
You Can Always Reach Me
